There is nothing more foundational than knowing God. The rebuilding must begin there. It is only in knowing God that we also come to understand who we are as humans. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge” (Proverbs 1:7). Scripture clearly states that people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. That knowledge is about God and his Word (Hosea 4:6). Knowing God is a gospel question.
The true gospel is foundational to everything. Jesus Christ is the good news of the gospel! Do you know and believe the gospel that Jesus gave us?

We know God according to His Word. Scripture is what God gave to man to reveal Himself. It is the Bible that must be our guide for everything. Heritage Baptist Church is a loving community of believers who are committed to applying ‘All of Scripture to All of Life’. This means the Bible and the Bible alone is sufficient to guide and direct us into everything that is pleasing to God.
"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
Our ministry as a whole and each individual ministry must persistently pursue our purpose in light of God’s Word. These governing principles are set forth to direct and apply our practice for ministry. God’s work must be done God’s way, with motives and methodologies that are pleasing to Him. “And also if anyone competes in athletics, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules" (2 Timothy 2:5). This is how we build on the foundation God has revealed in his Word.
Vision is the timely application of God’s Word. It originates from the heart of God, is revealed by the Word of God, and is applied by the Spirit of God to the events of the day. “Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law” (Proverbs 29:18).
The key element to having a biblical vision is found in the last part of that verse – obey God’s law-word. Our vision is to obey what God has revealed to us in his Word.
